Jack H. Harrison Memorial Scholarship

Jack H. Harrison served in the Navy for 20 years, 18 of those years as a pilot. He served in World War II and the Korean War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals. After retiring from the Navy, Jack worked for Southwest Gas for 18 years. He and his wife also ran a rental business. From 1967 to 1972, he took courses at Victor Valley College and in 1972 he received his AA in business administration. Jack also believed in giving to the community. During his years in the high desert, he worked with local chambers of commerce to form High Desert Tourist Recreation Committee to help lure tourists to the area. He was a regular contributor to guide dog organizations in the Florida area where he and his wife lived seasonally for some years. Jack was inducted into the Victor Valley College Alumni Hall of Fame in 1997. In 2001, Jack’s wife Theresa established an endowment to provide scholarships honoring her late husband.
