VICTORVILLE, CA – The Victor Valley College Foundation (VVCF) celebrated the academic achievements of over 350 Victor Valley College students who secured scholarship funding for the 2023-2024 academic year. On June 13, the VVCF gathered with scholarship donors and award recipients to celebrate their accomplishments.
This year, the Foundation is set to award over $235,000 in scholarship funding that ultimately assists students’ tuition, textbook, and course material costs. With Victor Valley College continuously working to expand its programs and services to meet the evolving needs of its community, the goal of providing accessible, high-quality education to all students remains.
As the cost of education may be a barrier for many students, scholarship funding becomes crucial. Scholarships provide financial support that allows students to focus on their studies and achieve their academic goals without a debt burden. The Victor Valley College Foundation works to ensure that all students can reach their full potential and contribute to the growth and prosperity of the community. It is because of the philanthropic hearts of numerous donors, community partners, and lifelong friends of the College that scholarship funding is made possible.
“Victor Valley College students have an incredible capacity to do good. Some pressures come with pursuing a higher education degree that may limit a student’s options. The scholarships open a door, and inspire students to be ambitious,” said Sam Grandlienard, the Victor Valley College Foundation Scholarship Chairperson. “We, as a community, believe in them and are grateful to offer in a small way a better path to reach their potential. They are the future and we are eager to see the good they will accomplish!”
Victor Valley College has experienced a significant increase in enrollment, with a 21% jump in the number of students attending the college. While this growth is exciting, it also highlights the importance of scholarship funding. As more students enroll, the demand for financial aid and scholarships increases. With the support of scholarships, students can focus on their studies and prepare for successful careers, strengthening our community and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the region.
“This scholarship means that someone believes in me enough to invest in me,” said Victor Valley College nursing student Amanda Ford. “I can now focus on building my future without worrying about how to make it all happen financially.”
The Foundation’s program continues to be the leading clearinghouse of scholarship awards for High Desert residents pursing their education at Victor Valley College. They help nursing students learn to save lives, fuel education for aviation technicians in training and pave the way for transfer students to advance their careers. In fact, awards are made to students ,pursuing just about every major the College offers and are typically given to those who demonstrate financial need, community service or academic success. Applications are accepted at the beginning of the Victor Valley College’s Spring Semester to prepare for the following academic year.
