2020 - 2021 Scholarship Drive

Dozens of local organizations and college groups make scholarships available to Victor Valley College students each year through the Victor Valley College Foundation. Their generous contributions are provided to make student dreams of a brighter future more possible.

Only online applications are accepted. No paper applications will be accepted!

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
Victor Valley College uses an automated online application process for all scholarships available through the Victor Valley College Foundation and its partners. This process is well received by student applicants and also works well for most sponsors.

The online application requests detailed information about the student’s academic history, educational goals, and career plans. It coordinates the collection of recommendations through email, requires an essay in which students can share more information to help them connect further with a sponsor’s interests, and allows students to attach all required documents such as transcripts.

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCEDURES:
After the application deadline closes, the online scholarship system will match students’ online applications to prospective scholarship sponsors based on the criteria for each award. Using this system, selections may be made by the scholarship sponsors themselves or by a committee of Foundation volunteers. To facilitate this process, students will be required to give permission at the beginning of the application process for others to view their information. Application review and selection occurs in April of each year.

Students are notified by email of any scholarships awarded to them at the email address they use to access the system.

SCHOLARSHIP RECOGNITION AND AWARD:
A ceremony to honor sponsors and recognize scholarship recipients is usually held June. Student recipients are expected to attend.

SCHOLARSHIP USE:
Each scholarship award has different use restrictions that can be found in the list of scholarships. Students may only use these awards for the purposes identified by the sponsors who provide them. Scholarship funds are distributed by the Foundation based on the schedule defined by the sponsor but typically at the beginning of registration periods or within 10 days of receipt. Once processed all scholarship funds are posted to students accounts and are visible in Webadvisor. Unpaid student fees for registration, parking, etc are deducted first from these awards. Students may then request a voucher for use in the college bookstore.

The College will release any scholarship balance remaining to students automatically following the last drop date of the semester provided the student continues to be enrolled in courses. These funds are intended to reimburse the student for any allowable expenses they have incurred during the semester. Students are required to use these funds only for sponsor designated purposes.

In rare cases, scholarships may affect financial aid awards. For information about how accepting a scholarship award may affect you, contact the VVC Financial Aid office.
